Office Administrator

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced administrator to provide services to The Foundation on a self-employed, contracted basis.

The role would suit someone looking for the flexibility of working from home, although an office base can be offered as an option.
We are the only UK based registered charity dedicated to helping people directly or indirectly affected by Cornelia de Lange Syndrome - a rare genetic disorder affecting around 1 in 10,000 in the general population. Our mission:

Position: Office Administrator
Location: May be home or office based
Type: Part time, Contract, no fixed term, reviewed annually
Hours: 24 hours per week, flexible working pattern
Remuneration: £15,000 per annum
Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses paid in addition

About the role:

We are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic individual who can deliver a service providing day-to-day running of the basic functions of the charity, supporting families, carers and professionals alike with an empathetic and positive approach.
You will be responsible to the board of trustees, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the charity.
The main responsibilities and duties are:Responding to all postal, email correspondence and providing telephone support during office hours

  • Engaging with audience on social media and alerting web team to website updates as necessary, emailing newsletters, managing mailing of magazine
  • Monitoring income and expenditure in conjunction with the Treasurer
  • Maintaining family, professionals, supporters and donor databases and ensuring GDPR compliance
  • Initiating and organising board meetings in conjunction with the Chairman and attending as necessary
  • Administrating twice-yearly weekend conferences, venues, locations, programmes, publicity and attending the weekends
  • Monitoring growth and strategic development of the charity in accordance with agreed development plans
  • Identifying sources of funding, grants and trusts for the board to pursue

About you:

Ideally, you will be experienced in an administration role, have the necessary IT skills (Word and Excel primarily), preferably have some experience in working within the Charity Sector, have a caring and empathetic nature and are prepared to learn more about this very rare condition.

You will need to be DBS checked and be able to work to our mandatory Privacy, Safeguarding and Risk Management policies.

You will have to be prepared for emotionally challenging engagements with our client base and able to deal with difficult situations in a sympathetic and supportive manner.
