» Professor Frank Kaiser

In 2013, Frank Kaiser was appointed as Professor for Functional Genetics and Human Genetics at the University of Lübeck. Since 2019, he has been Director of the Institute of Human Genetics at the University Hospital in Essen (Germany).  In addition to genetic and functional analyses in the field of cohesinopathies (like Cornelia de Lange Syndrome), the research of his group focuses on molecular mechanisms in the area of genetic disorders and hereditary diseases.

He studied biology at the Ruhr-University Bochum. In his doctorate and postdoctoral studies at the Institute of Human Genetics in Essen, he performed functional analysis of the transcription factor TRPS1. After 14 years as group leader and head of the Section for Functional Genetics at the University of Lübeck he moved back to Essen in 2019.
